A Space Too Big

...I was in a medical mall of sorts and I was in one area that was supposed to have locked doors because it led to child services center on the right and then a domestic abuse center on the left. I asked the ladies what to do because the door wasn't locking properly. The women on the child protective services side didn't seem to care and, in fact, they were kind of rude and more concerned about each other than anything else. The domestic abuse people were a little better and seem to be more involved with security. But no one really cared that the doors wouldn't lock. I headed into the store that was up front with my girls and found Halloween stuff on sale. I was excited to get something! (In RL, didn't get to go shopping this year after halloween.) Oddly, there was some kind of orange, crummy Trump fries in large cartons on discount and I had a fistful. I'm not sure why I was carrying them around but I put them down somewhere because I didn't want them. I normally put things were they belong but, here, I just discarded them. There was a jump and then I was traveling with Winston Daley and Tracy Tart and we were trying to get out of this really huge building. I was climbing up a sandy hill and I had to grab on to stuff to make purchase so I could get to the window. The other two followed me and we all made it out, only to find out that we were on the wrong side of the building. We'd gotten out one side but we had to travel all the way to the other side and it was quite arduous. We went around to the other building and went back inside and it was like a medical emergency center. I saw Aunt Gloria there and she said that her family was ready to go home but there was a chicken there that they were going to grab. They were afraid of what the staff was going to do to it. The staff said they wanted to keep it but we were afraid they would kill it, so I sent them out. I went in and got my phone which I had left somewhere and, on the way out, I scooped the chicken up and ran out to the cars. It was raining a little bit and there were cats sitting on cars here and there and my car was at the end of the parking lot. I walked through the rain to get there and I put the chicken in the car. I asked the dream friend there if they wanted to drive and she was like, "Yep!" but then sat back down in her seat and laugh because she didn't have a license. I got in the driver's seat and we took off...

Your dream unfolds in a series of symbolic settings and actions, each seemingly layered with themes around care, security, freedom, and responsibility. The medical mall area, especially with its locked doors meant to protect vulnerable populations like children and those affected by domestic abuse, suggests a focus on protection and boundaries. The malfunctioning locks and the indifferent attitude of the staff could symbolize feelings of vulnerability or frustration about safety and support systems in your life. It may reflect a sense that some places or people meant to provide security might feel unreliable or inattentive. Transitioning to the store with Halloween items and unexpected, discarded “Trump fries” introduces a moment of seeking joy or normalcy (picking out Halloween decorations) but also encountering something unfamiliar or unwelcome that you choose to let go of. This could represent sorting through experiences or influences that don't fit your values or current path, deciding what to hold on to and what to release. The journey with your dream companions trying to escape the large building evokes effort, perseverance, and perhaps navigating through complex or overwhelming situations. Climbing the sandy hill and reaching a window suggests striving for an exit or a new perspective, even when footing feels uncertain. Finding yourself on the “wrong side” after escape hints at the challenge of finding true freedom or resolution—it’s not always straightforward. Meeting Aunt Gloria and the chicken in the medical emergency center brings a gentle, nurturing element into the dream. The concern about the chicken’s safety and your protective actions suggest a caring instinct toward something fragile or vulnerable—perhaps an aspect of yourself or someone you care about—that needs safeguarding from harsh or unpredictable environments. The rain and cats atop cars can symbolize cleansing, reflection, or the presence of quiet companions or observers along your path. Your interaction with the dream friend who laughs about not having a license adds a light touch, highlighting themes of responsibility and trust—sometimes others may be willing but not yet ready to take on certain roles, so you step up as the driver guiding the way forward. Overall, this dream might be exploring your feelings about protection and vulnerability, the effort involved in navigating complex emotional or practical landscapes, and your role in supporting and taking care of what feels important to you. It weaves together moments of uncertainty, determination, and nurturing care with a gentle humor, all set within a setting that feels both familiar and expansive.
