Bug and Cambodia

I was traveling in Cambodia. I went there on a whim and had to tell my work I was not coming. I was traveling with a man. He had black hair and brown skin and wore a white button up shirt. He had planned the trip better than I had and had cash to pay for transportation. He was annoyed at me because I did not have cash to split things. I had some cash but mostly American bills. I regretted not using an atm we had seen when we arrived at the border and I worried that the deeper we got into Cambodia the less safe the atms were to use. There was a river we were next to and I wondered if it were the Mekong. It was busy, the sky was overcast, I waited to use an atm. Another dream I was with our three cars in a house. It was like I was house sitting. There was this massive bug like half the size of the cats crawling around. The cats noticed it but didn’t chase it like I expected. I crawled into this cat den thing. It looked like a potato bug. I called Kirsten and she told me not to touch it because it had deadly poison powder its skin put off. I said “that’s probably why the cats leave it alone.” I picked up the whole cat den and put it outside a sliding glass door.

Your dream weaves together themes of travel, preparation, trust, and boundary-setting, using vivid symbols to explore your feelings and dynamics in unfamiliar situations. Traveling in Cambodia with someone who is more prepared highlights a contrast between spontaneity and planning. The man’s annoyance about money and the concern over currency safety may symbolize inner tensions about control, reliability, and vulnerability when venturing into unknown or “foreign” territories—whether external or internal. The river, possibly the Mekong, and the overcast sky add a sense of transition and uncertainty, reflecting the flow of emotions and the clouded nature of decisions. The second part of your dream, involving a massive bug in a house with cats, deepens the exploration of boundaries and safety. The house can represent your inner world or a space you are temporarily tending. The large, unusual bug—something half the size of your cats—signals an intrusive or unsettling presence that is noticed but not confronted by your feline companions. Crawling into the cat den suggests seeking refuge or closeness to something familiar and protective amid discomfort. Calling Kirsten and receiving a warning about the bug’s poisonous quality points to awareness of hidden dangers and the wisdom in caution. Your action of relocating the bug outside, rather than harming it, reflects a thoughtful approach to managing threats: setting boundaries without unnecessary harm, preserving safety without creating conflict. Altogether, this dream seems to invite reflection on how you handle unpredictability, trust others’ preparations, protect your personal space, and acknowledge risks with care. It gently encourages balancing openness with prudence as you navigate both the external world and your inner landscape.
