The One Where I Turn Into a Shark
I’m on a sailboat in the middle of the ocean with Brianna. The middle of the boat is made of a trampoline-like material. I start to get very nervous that we’ll be eaten by a shark when I’m suddenly viewing everything from a shark’s perspective under the water. I hear myself saying, “I feel like we need to either get a bigger boat, or stay closer to the shore.” As the shark, I start ramming into the bottom of the boat until it flips over. As myself again, I think about how we might die … I’m in what’s supposed to be the Jaws ride in the ocean. Every time the mechanical shark approaches I laugh, but I’m actually nervous. When I get off the ride, I see a little boy — a super cute black kid who can’t be more than five years old — who’s talking to himself animatedly about the ride being scary and struggling to get his yellow coat on. I help him into it and we talk about the ride. I keep looking at Brody, who’s standing next to me, because the kid is so cute and hilarious. I end up in my parents’ garage with him, Renee, a woman we know (can’t remember who) and a little girl. I remember that both of the kids are Renee’s students. I interrupt Renee as she uses the workout equipment to talk about the little boy. She calls one of them “sweetie” and I find this weird because I’ve never heard her call anyone that.
